The National Ijtima 2013 of the khuddam ul Ahmadiyya Mauritius was held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of November in the Darus Salaam Mosque, Rose Hill. This time it was going to be a special one as we were also going to celebrate the 75th year of National Ijtimas’ in Mauritius. The main programme promised a lot: History of the Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya in all those years, to be related by the living past Sadr Khuddams themselves! They were 7 in all but in that one and half hour of the Saturday night’s programme we had time only to listen to 4 of them.
Hearts were filled with passion and eyes with tears. The mosque was filled with ‘naras’ and ‘hamd’. Our hearts wished for the programme to go on and on but every programme has to end somewhere. It was overall a very successful Ijtima- one of best I can say in terms of attendance and participation. It has been 2 years now that we are experiencing -and enjoying as well, I should say – the ‘international’ way of organising National Ijtimas.
And by the grace of Allah, it has been an immense success and it’s not without pleasure that the respected Sadr Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya Mauritius, Nassim bin Shams Taujoo Saheb, often relates how he has been receiving sms from Khuddam to do, not one but two National Ijtimas in one year!
The main challenge in this change has been the hosting of parallel Taleem competitions together with the Sports Competitions. By the grace of Allah, this challenge has been met under the active leadership of the Muhtamim Talim, brother Aslam Taurabally Saheb and his team and we are now tweaking the formula to ensure that a maximum khuddam benefit from these activities. On Saturday morning we had an unforgettable Sports Day at the Rose-Hill Stadium. Around 100 Khuddam or more participated in the very much heated football matches, races and fun Games. For the first time this year, we also introduced Archery and it was no less than the Champion of Mauritius- brother Waseem Yacoob Saheb- who came to coach us! After that long day we returned back to the Darus Salaam complex where we had a succulent Barbecue, 100% on the pattern of the international ijtimas, I tell you!
The trophy for the Best Majlis this year went to the newly created but hyperdynamic Majlis Cassis under the leadership of its active Qaed Faraz Meerun Saheb. However, the runner up, the Triolet Majlis were not that far away from them and it was not that easy to designate the winner. Overall it was around 300 over some 400 who attended the Ijtimas over the 3 days in an unforgettable atmosphere of love, brotherhood and friendliness. May our next National Ijtima come soon!
