What a horrific tragedy to suffer … first violated by those beastly men and then shunned by their family and society.
It’s sad how so many Muslims of today have adopted the tribal “honor” system of ignorance and inhumanity whereas horrible atrocities were committed against Muslim women in early days of Islam, yet we rightly remember them as martyrs. And there is not a single instruction given to women by the Prophet of Islam to kill themselves should they find themselves at the mercy of an attacker — an instruction which South Asian women, including Muslim women were given by their families during partition riots as it was supposed to be the honorable thing to do. If it was so, these instructions would have been given 1500 years ago.
A women who is raped should not be made a double victim. According to Islam she is innocent as well as her child and both deserve love and compassion.
