One American colleague at the time (2002) took me aside during a party and said to me: “You know I would not be surprised if ‘we’ (Americans) did it. I said I would not be either, but I was surprised that he as an American told me that. He answered that “I have spent sufficient years in Central America (and Haiti) and have seen what the CIA did there and that is why I would not be surprised”). -- Ah well, let’s see what future historians will write about it.
